Rehabilitation Evaluation Appointments

At the initial appointment, an evaluation is done using tape measure for girth measurements on different body parts to assess muscle loss/gain and/or weight loss/gain.  Goniometry is performed to evaluate the patient's range of motion on affected body parts and are compared to non-affected body parts to determine losses or gains of range of motion.  A short exercise session is performed to determine the patient's endurance and stamina levels.  This also allows for gait analysis to determine the patient's capabilities and limitations.  An orthopedic and/or neurologic exam is performed depending on the individual needs of the patient.

The overall goal of the evaluation is to obtain as much objective data to formulate the most successful rehabilitation plan for the patient and to follow the patient's improvements over the treatment sessions.

Treatment Appointments

There are two options for treatment appointments.  You may drop off your pet for these appointments or you may bring your pet and wait in our lobby during the appointment.  There is a minimum of three treatment modalities utilized during this appointment for your pet depending on the needs of the patient.

Drop off Appointments:

Pets are expected to be dropped off between 7:00am and 8:00am and picked up no later than 5:30pm.  This is a courtesy we extend to our clients who have difficulty getting their pet's needs met within their work schedules.  The evaluation appointment is not eligible for a drop off appointment.

Scheduled Appointments:

It is important to arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment so the nurses can get the medical record updated for the appointment.  This appointment will take between 30 and 45 minutes and you will be able to wait in our reception area while we treat your pet.
