Critical Care

When your pet is seriously ill, injured, or in an unstable condition, your primary care veterinarian may refer you to STVS’ critical care service. Critical care specialists provide intensive care for patients whose conditions are life-threatening, requiring constant monitoring and comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care.

Dr. Bradley Book, our critical care specialist, oversees the management of our most seriously ill patients–sometimes for a few hours and sometimes for prolonged periods of time. Often, pets will be admitted into the ICU (intensive care unit) after surgery to be closely monitored. Your pet will be kept there until he is alert and no longer under the effects of anesthesia.

Our hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for pets in ICU. Designed for your pet’s comfort, feel safe knowing that your pet is in the highest quality care possible.
