  • Stem Cell Therapy  ( 1 items )

Currently we are utilizing Stem Cell Therapy (SCT) primarily in our orthopedic practice in the treatment of osteoarthritis and connective tissue injury.  Regenerative medicine is one of the most exciting areas in human and veterinary medicine.  Treatment involves isolation of stem cells from the patient's adipose tissue and re-injection into the area of interest or intravenously.  While early in its clinical application, results have been encouraging and adverse events minimal.

What are the main uses for SCT?

SCT is currently being used for the treatment of arthritis in the knee, hip, and elbow of your pet as well as for soft tissue repair for tendon repair, ligament repair, and partial tears.

    How does SCT work?

Your STVS veterinarian will collect a small fat sample from you pet at STVS.  The samples will then be shipped to the Vet-Stem laboratory in California.  Within 48 hours, Vet-Stem processes the fat and sends back ready-to-inject syringes.  The regenerative cells are then injected into the injured site at STVS.

    Why use SCT?

SCT produces a more normal healing process, because it uses your pet's own cells in the healing process.  It has been shown to regenerate healthy tissue, and improve the pet's quality of life.
